HK Memory Chest May 2015 Kit

hi everyone, first I would like to congrate HK Memory Chest's designer Belly Lau has been selected as Graphic 45 and Maya Road's design teams in the year of 2015-2016! She is a very talented paper crafter and a hard working person. We are all looking forward for her amazing design in the near future!

today i would like to introduce you of May kit from HK Memory Chest. This kit is very special with watercolor papers from Cosmo Cricket, i had a lot of fun to play with it.

The collection is called Just Add Watercolors, they are printed with gold and clear foil resist. like the name says, you just add watercolours and watch the magic happen!

Let's see what's included in this magic kit:
Paper
Cosmo Cricket Paper Pad 12″X12″
Watercolor Painting Set With Tin
Embellishments
Prima Watercolor Mulberry Paper Flowers – Aquarelle

Cottage Living Stickers – Jewel
Cottage Living Jumbo Paperclips – Gold
Gold Twine
Felt Pom Pom – Assorted Colors

Here are two of my design team layouts to this kit:

Amazing You
This is a project life style layout - pieces of square, rectangle cut papers with different patterns are collaged together to create the background. i drawed double sewing lines to create a more clear outline of each puzzle.

Actually i painted the centre circle in different colors as well as a heart, but it is finally covered by my amazing girl : ) and that's fine.

This Wood Veneer Hoops from Crate paper, is so cute and comes in different sizes to choose from.

Beside adding watercolour on the paper, i also draw lines to connect foil dots to make it more interesting.

And of course, cannot miss out my hand draw Zentangles on each piece.

At the end it comes with my handwritting title using the watercolour!

Enjoy Now

This layout I would like to do something about painting, rather than just add watercolor. I referred to a painting I did last month as below.
and start drawing on this foil resist paper for the blue banner, pink flower, green leafs and the yellow cactus. Then cut them out.
The best thing about this resist paper is, you just need to paint in a normal way but the pre-designed pattern will just turn out automatically.

You just need to add watercolor, darnken the edges and highlight the outline. Easy, nice and it is personalised.I especially like those small hearts on this yellow cactus, so i use my pencil to trace the outline again.

This stamp is the add on material to this kit.

Craft Market Self-Inking Stamp  Love You To The Moon & Back

It is a very interesting kit and i think it is worth to try. HK Memory Chest's kit is always a surprise: )

I had so much fun in playing with this kit. Here below are three DT layouts and hope you will get inspired.

What's For Breakfast?

This layout i used white paper as background to bring out the color. On the other side,  the transparent washi tape around the circle will show clearly on white paper.

I tear apart the cloth pin so it won't be too thick. Stamp around dates in different colors all over the background paper to make it colorful.

I cut two different size circles and layer them together, upper one with drawing stitches lines to make it outstanding from the botton one.

This little gold glitter bow tie is so cute to add anywhere on your layout. Red Buttons are equally cute, and they comes in different sizes and designs!

There are two sets of lettering in this kit. One is chipboard letters and the other is wood letters. They makes this kit more interesting.

For the washi tape, i cut them apart so i can stick them like another circle.

Eat Eat Eat

This layout i used Feb kit's sketch by HK Memory Chest's designer Grace. I love this sketch as it creates layers by sewing different papers together which make an interesting background.

I cut out the cute  critter from paper and insert  them between paper and sewing lines. They looks cute and seems they are going to feed my little princess.

cloth pin and enamel arrows add dimensions onto this layout. Those pink and yellow word stickers are perfecly match the photo.

love the pack of brads with very nice design.

My First Radish

For this layout, i just simply line up three rectangle cutouts plus embellishments as finishing.

The cartoon images on this paper is so cute - he is carrying a big spoon!

I choose a big button which i can stick a puff sticker into it. red button is always pops up anywhere you put it.

i painted the wood letter into yellow to fit the paper better. just string them up for the title.

Here below are two sample layouts from me:

Happy Life

I like the design of this paper. The top part is the back side of the bottom paper, i just simply cut it apart and tape them together with gold washi tape, this is my background, just to keep it simple and origin.

I used the twine to connect all the embellishments, making them like swing in the spring wind. Colorful buttons, flowers, enamel dots will be very good choices.
Paper clips, pins, resin bird, and the super cute light bulb adds dimensions to the layout.

Oh, Be Still My Beating Heart
This is a mixed media layout. The photo just taken in Feb before Chinese New Year and I will adjust the papers to match the photo background. i distress both layers of papers and ink them into red edge by using Tim Holtz's Fired Brick.
I created the background by using gesso on Crafter's Workshop stencil - Cherry Blossoms  which i had it for years, it is just perfectly matched the theme of Spring Festival.
Birds are sitting on the cherry blossoms branch! This is the cut out from paper.
Insert dollies into the teared paper to created layers. Bird is flying back to her nest in Spring!  These embellishments are just too cute!

Wedding Layout

Today i would like to share a layout i made to my old friend Coco. She found her life partner and this weekend will be her wedding. Congrulations and i know you have waiting this day for long. We met in Bradford, United Kingdom 10 years ago in the university and we lived in the same block. She made good foods for us and i always believe she will be a good wife/mum in the future. I rarely made wedding gifts to friend but she is one who deserve it. I hope she will like it.

I used Prima Marketing's paper as background. It's black and will pop up all colorful flowers on top.

I also use Donna Downey's stencil to creative texture, plus Dylusion's spray, this background now been personalized, like in the garden.

Here below are more some closed up for this layout.
I like Prima's chalkboard pin which i can draw and write their names on. I hide a little cute metal birdie behind it.

These small five-petal  flowers comes from Petaloo.it's a good paper flower company as some of their flowers used recycle materials like t-shirts or paper. And this butterfly is also from it.

After i add many ready-made flowers, i feel like i need to made some unique one to made this gift more special. So i quickly die cut a aqua felt by using Tim Holtz's pinecore die and roll it tightly. Is this cute?

This yellow birdie stands on some real branch i collected from park, tie them together with twine.

A pink tie in the central will connect everything together. The wedding date is written on the wooden banner.

I hope she will like this gift and wish her happy wedding!

My contribution of two layouts to the kit:

It's my jam

My daughter's faces are too funny and i won't  miss any of them. To arrange three photos into a page, i organize them into a big square together with the title cutout, make it simple and tidy. This will also show most of the diamonds on background paper.

To apply the sewing stencil kit into this layout, i tried many ways. At the end i choose thi simpliest way to sew stitches around my square paper and one of the diamond cutout, i even not apply the stencil to do it, but I love my own way!

Cork piece is a good embellishment due to the texture and color.  It creates layers on your layout and also highlight the stickers on top.

Be True To Yourself

This layout is about myself. After i have kids i rarely take photo or scrapbook myself. Kids become my whole whole and they are always cute enough to fit into my page, for any color and any theme! But today, i think i need to do something for myself, something to remind myself - Be true to yourself.

Simply just cut out some papers and layer them together for the photo background. puff stickers are cute as well as brad and the metal clip.

i love this Gold lettering stickers. It is trendy and easy match color on paper.

HKMC's Jan 2015 DT layout

Happy New Year everyone!
2014 has been a good year for us, healthy, happy and progress! My young daughter is getting stronger, my older son loves dinosaurs, we travels and we run! We joined the first Color Run in Hong Kong in Dec and we enjoy it a lot! With the new year quickly upon us, there is no more perfect time than right now to get a fresh starts. I will continue to do my favourite scrapbook and add running into my lifestyle!

So, my first scrapbooking page in the new year will be a combination of Colorrun and scrapbook!

  The Happy Color Runners

Papers are from Heidi Swapp's new collection September skies, i like the bright color, floral designs and geometric shapes, it gives a lot of possibility in layout designs. Since it is about "color", i stamped "love you more" (from same September Skies collection) in multi-colors directly on the paper, as well as circles and triangles, splash some acrylic paints randomly all over as the colorful layout background. i also use acrylic paint to color the wood accents to match the background and they add dimension into this design.

Be Brave Be Bold Be You

This is the second layout i created using this kit, the lettering set in this kit comes from Me and My Big Ideas. it is a transparent sticker in gold, and the size is super big, which i love it! You can keep it as a whole like I do, or you can cut them apart to fit into your designs.

i draw some leaves around the green banner to match the nature element in the photo, and if you know me you will notice it's my signature!

In all, this month's kit is rich and colourful, the title set is a real surprise, embellishments are so cute and thanks for HK Memory Chest for organising  such a great kit to start a new year!  I hope you will all enjoy it and if you are new to scrapbooking, this will be a good chance to get a fresh start here with us!

Let's enjoy the life together!
